Chukwuebuka [‘Ebuka] Ezeakacha is a Nigerian-American choral conductor and baritone. Born in Enugu, Nigeria, and proud of his Igbo heritage, 'Ebuka is from a musically inclined and artistic family. His active involvement as a vocalist and choral musician began in 1995 when, as a young boy, he was first introduced to choral music in the choir of his home parish in Lagos.
'Ebuka graduated from Laurels Academy secondary school, obtaining his Senior School Certificate from the West African Examination Council (WAEC). He has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Theater Arts with a major in Directing and Set Design and a minor in Dance and Choreography from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra, Nigeria. After immigrating to the United States of America, he received a Master of Science (MS) degree in Communication from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Afterward, he transferred to the University of Oklahoma, where he received his Master of Music (MM) and Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degrees in Choral Conducting.
While in Nigeria, 'Ebuka was the choirmaster of the catholic students’ choir at his undergraduate university and served as music director for his home parish, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Shasha, Lagos, Nigeria. He has also worked as a guest conductor and choral clinician for many choirs in Nigeria, both in official and unofficial capacities. Upon moving to the United States in 2016, he completed choral conducting and music technologist internships at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Lafayette, Louisiana (2018-2020), and the McFarlin United Methodist Church in Norman, Oklahoma (2020-2022). As a music graduate student, 'Ebuka was a choral assistant of the OU Choirs at the University of Oklahoma, where he worked as the Assistant Conductor of the OU Men’s Glee Club (2021/2022) and the OU Women’s Chorus (2022/2023). Since August 2022, 'Ebuka has served as Choir Director at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Oklahoma City. He is a freelance music instrumental synthesizer/producer, voice-over artist, and video editor/producer during his spare time.
